Ohio Immigrant Alliance created the new website and social media campaign, #OneLoveOhio, to show that millions of Ohioans do not fit the national stereotype, and are actively working to make our state one of welcome and love.
This Sunday at 6pm, we are joining with Ohio Organizing Collaborative, Ohio NAACP, Innovation Ohio, Red Wine and Blue and Faith in Public Life for an all-hands-on-deck call, to continue building a positive state-wide response to the hateful attacks against Haitian-Ohioans and other members of our communities.
RSVP to get the Zoom link here.
This call will be a chance to hear from Springfield parents, students, teachers, business owners, and faith leaders about their biggest needs, and how those outside of the region can best support. Any money raised through this effort would go entirely to the Haitian Community Help and Support Center and other local Springfield community nonprofits.
And while financial donations are needed, we are asking for something anyone can give, no matter your bank account. We are asking for your time and your presence. Join us at 6pm to learn how you can get involved.
In the meantime, take a look at the stories on #OneLoveOhio and post your thoughts on social media using the hashtag. Submit other acts of kindness, community-building, and love you are seeing all across the state. Ohio is not the sum of our stereotypes. We will not let neo-Nazis and racists — or elected officials spreading hate — speak for us.
