About Babel Box Theater

Babel Box Theater is a new, non-profit performance art group whose mission is to create art that gives voice to underrepresented communities of all types in Ohio.

Babel Box Theater envisions a world where artistry encourages critical thinking and challenges each of us to see the humanity in ourselves and in others, across all ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds; physical and mental abilities; gender identities and sexual orientations; age; and financial circumstances.

Led by Dante F. Larzabal, actor, director, and co-founder of the Teatro Publico de Cleveland and LatinUs Theater Company, actor and artist Alex Corona, writer Cesar Larzabal, journalist Claudia Longo, and activist Lynn Tramonte, BBT was formed around six principles: inclusion, social relevance, innovation, authenticity, artistry, and connection.

Babel Box Theater will stage its first play, “Kassandra,” by  Uruguayan/French playwright Sergio  Blanco in 2023. Drawing from Cassandra of Greek mythology, Kassandra is a transgender immigrant sex worker who holds the stage and captures the breath.

About Expo: Ingenuity

Expo: Ingenuity is the name of the 2022 IngenuityFest, an annual art and experiential event that attracts creators and community members from all walks of life. Organized by Ingenuity Cleveland, the rooms and floors of the Hamilton Building are re-engineered for IngenuityFest into a living, breathing art and performance space.

Drawing on the best traditions of World’s Fairs and (Inter)National Exhibitions, including the ability to highlight those scientific, technological and social innovations that have driven progress, this year’s Expo: Ingenuity will ignite the creative spark by tracing a history of imagination through time and place, highlighting the ability of expositions to bring people together to uplift achievement and human ingenuity.
