Shaker Heights voters created Democracy Day “to establish that only human beings, not corporations, are legal persons with Constitutional rights and that money is not free speech and therefore regulating political contributions and spending does not equate to limiting political speech.”

Every two years, the Day is marked with a public hearing that takes place within ninety days of the November elections. In 2021, Lynn Tramonte is testifying on “On Immigration Policy Origins, Costs, Consequences, and a Better Approach.”

Watch the hearing live at 7pm ET on September 13, 2021. Read Tramonte’s complete testimony here.
