The Ohio Immigrant Hotline is a one-stop-shop for anyone seeking information about immigrants in Ohio. People can call, text, or email us at 419-777-HELP (4357) and hotline@ohioimmigrant.org to seek help and find resources. Managed by the Ohio Immigrant Alliance, the hotline is a lifeline for people detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and their loved ones. Our first priority is solving the immediate problem of the person who calls. But the information we collect — under strict privacy guidelines — helps us enforce immigrants’ and citizens’ legal rights, and advocate for systemic change.
Since the Ohio Immigrant Hotline went live on January 26, 2025, we have responded to more than 500 incidents around the state. The requests range from legal referrals and resources for organizations, to speakers for community events, reports about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol activity, and questions about immigration.
Some of the most difficult calls we get are from loved ones seeking help locating people they fear were arrested by immigration agents, and from individuals reporting abuses inside immigration jail. We also hear from Ohioans who want to volunteer to help immigrants. We direct them to find their closest local group on our resource website, OhioIsHome.org, and invite them to participate in one of OIA’s volunteer programs.
The Hotline is a public good that serves the entire state. That’s why we are inviting organizations, individuals, and businesses to show their support for the Hotline by sponsoring it today. It costs approximately $6,000 for us to run the Hotline for a month, including incident intake and fulfillment. We have a dedicated Hotline Manager, a support Manager, and staff who respond to inquiries.
There are three tiers for sponsoring the Ohio Immigrant Hotline:
Partner Sponsorship: By donating $6,000 to OIA, your organization, business, law firm — or you, as an individual — can sponsor an entire month of the Ohio Immigrant Hotline. This earns you mentions on social media and a blog post about your support.
Community Sponsorship: By donating $1,500, you can finance a week on the Ohio Immigrant Hotline. You will be recognized on social media as a Community Sponsor.
Neighbor Sponsorship: For $200, you can finance a day of Ohio Immigrant Hotline operations. This tier is for individuals who can’t afford higher sponsorships, but still want to support the effort. Consider organizing a birthday fundraiser and getting your family and friends involved!
Donors who wish to remain anonymous can also participate.
