On the murder of Renee Good

DHS lies.

They lied about Ayman Soliman. They lied about Venezuelans in Ohio, calling them gang members when they were not. They lied about Operation Buckeye in Columbus, where the overwhelming majority of the people arrested have no criminal history.

Ohio Immigrant Alliance Executive Director Lynn Tramonte told USA Today that “what strikes her about the current messaging from DHS is a ‘lack of professionalism,’ which she attributed in large part to McLaughlin.” Describing ICE’s murder of two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis, in two separate incidents, Tramonte said: "It's breathtaking. The way they're describing what ICE is doing and how incorrect it is. These are powerful words: domestic terrorist. That should be reserved for people who are trying to kill people on U.S. soil, and she's at the Department of Homeland Security."

Renee Good, a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis, was murdered in cold blood by a federal agent. It’s unclear whether her family had even been notified before DHS Secretary Kristi Noem attacked her in a press conference. Video from every angle shows Good was attempting to leave a chaotic and dangerous scene. She did not drive her car toward anyone. Ohio native Tricia McLaughlin, a DHS spokesperson, claimed the ICE agent who murdered Good fired “defensive shots.”

“No one with eyes can watch this video and conclude that it was self defense. Renee Good’s killing was an execution. As a woman, mom, daughter, and community member, I know this could have been any one of us,” added Tramonte. “We said ICE brings violence to our communities, and this is exactly what we meant. Our federal government is unleashing agents without training, armed with deadly tools, onto our streets. They are supposed to enforce civil laws. Yet they feel emboldened and empowered to shoot into cars. That’s outrageous.

“That ICE agent didn’t know Renee Good’s name when he shot her. She wasn’t a wanted person; his life was not in danger. He was on a power trip, with the tone set from above — Secretary Noem, the President, and the real person in charge, Stephen Miller. U.S. Americans need to wake up. Our government is literally killing us because it hates immigrants. It doesn’t make any sense, but that’s what is going on. We need to abolish ICE, before it abolishes us.

“The people of Ohio, Minnesota, and the United States know that we are stronger together. Hatred is deadly; only love wins.”
