Feel-good shopping
On December 13, OIA hosted our first holiday pop-up shop with Bomani Beauty MD — a local Afro Caribbean, veteran, and family-owned vegan skincare and cosmetics company — at Hexagon Books in Cleveland Heights. Shoppers loved Bomani Beauty's all-natural skin, hair, and bodycare line. The passionfruit oil glosses and cupuaçu butter products were instant hits. Nounou chose the clear gloss and Lynn picked up a big jar of the Lemongrass Lavender Tropical Ting. Ibrahima ordered three jars, one for him and each of his brothers.
Hexagon Books is owned and curated by Manuel Chinchilla, a Honduran immigrant and community leader. The store specializes in world literature and offers language classes in French, Spanish, Italian, and now Japanese! Hexagon also has books for teens and an entire children’s room. In addition to books, they carry puzzles, t-shirts that celebrate favorite books, and local art and handmade products.
OIA was there selling Fulani hoops, Family Reunion t-shirts, and copies of the Ohio Migration Anthology. If you didn’t make it there on Saturday, it’s not too late to support OIA. Donate here or purchase merchandise at our online store!
